Art – is defined as “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power“

How do you convey the importance of Nevada’s amazing landscape to someone who has never seen it; to someone who physically can’t get to it; or to someone who has no one to take them to it? How do you inspire future generations of Nevadan’s to do all they can to preserve this treasure? Through art.

We are very fortunate to be part of a unique collaboration of phenomenally talented and conservation minded regional artists who want to share this vision, and bring you the beauty of Nevada through their eyes.  2015 marks the third year we will join forces to bring the public The Art of Conservation. This is a benefit event for Nevada Land Trust that will be held on July 24-25th, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northern Nevada in Reno.

Through this unique collaboration, throughout the year more than 20 artists are spending time with Nevada Land Trust on and around our project sites throughout the region, at “paint-ins” spanning all the seasons.  Participating artists will submit at least one work of art which will represent our project areas out of the total of 5 pieces they can contribute for the show. We are excited to broaden our range of mediums this year beyond painting and photography, so it will be fun to see what we have to offer this July.

The event is being organized by a group of dedicated artists and conservation supporters including Erik Holland and Judy Hilbish. Check back with this page regularly and get a peek at some of the exciting work these amazing artists are creating!
